Winx's special pressure

Jo Taylor wouldn’t swap her experience of being part of preparing Winx to win four Cox Plates but added the weight of expectation with her was unmatched.

So big was the pressure, Taylor suggested she didn’t mind seeing the back of Winx as she got on the float back to New South Wales after she had won her fourth Cox Plate.

Taylor speaking on Racing.com on Tuesday said the pressure with Winx and preparing her to win four Cox Plates.

“Having her in the stable I only realise a bit more now the pressure we operated under was external,” Taylor said.

“When they win you’re extremely happy and it was a relief once she won one. As we got to two that was pressure. Then a third was different pressure. Then we got to the fourth part of me enjoyed seeing her get on to the float and go back to New South Wales,” Taylor said.

“If I could have that time again I wouldn’t shy away from that opportunity though.”

Taylor is moving to Dubai to work as assistant trainer to Michael Costa after spending 12 years with Waller.

Taylor said it was amazing having to be there with horses such as Winx, Nature Strip, Humidor, Verry Elleegant and Brazen Beau in the stable.

“Winx was definitely the best but my favourite was Shoot Out as if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be in Australia,” Taylor said.
