Yes. Members of both MVRC (The Valley) and VRC (Flemington) will have access to Flemington on Cox Plate Day.
The redevelopment at Moonee Valley is expected to finish by mid-2027. Once works are complete and the track is ready, the Cox Plate is expected to return to The Valley for its traditional home
The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, 24 October 2026.
The 2026 Cox Plate will be held at Flemington Racecourse — operated by Victoria Racing Club (VRC). This marks the first time in the race’s history that it will be run at a track other than The Valley.
The Valley is undergoing a major redevelopment. The track and facilities will be closed from late 2025 for renovation — including reconfiguration of the racecourse and construction of new grandstands.
: After an Expression of Interest (EOI) process, Flemington’s bid — submitted by the VRC — was selected. The decision was based on factors including ability to handle attendance, wagering and engagement, and confidence that Flemington could deliver a high-quality track and event presentation.
The 2026 Moonee Valley Gold Cup will be held on the same day as The Ladbrokes Cox Plate, breaking away from the traditional two-day Carnival held at The Valley.
