As The Valley prepares to host The All-Star Mile for the second time, new Moonee Valley Racing Club Head of Racing, Charlotte Mills, said the club is open to hosting the race on a more regular basis.
Currently, The All-Star Mile is run on a rotational basis on the tracks of the three metropolitan Melbourne racing clubs, however, there have been reports suggesting that a more frequent hosting of the race could be part of Racing Victoria's pitch to the MVRC to change the date of the Cox Plate.
"We'd naturally love to host it more regularly," Mills said.
"I think The Valley does a very good job in hosting it. Whilst the format has been a shared one, it's something that certainly peaks for autumn and we've obviously got the Alister Clark and Typhoon Tracy joining that card this year, so absolutely, we'd love to see it on a more regular basis at The Valley."
Mills spoke of the famous Valley roar, something that was in action when Mugatoo won a thrilling renewal of The All-Star Mile at the track in 2021, while she's also hoping that last year's winner Zaaki returns to defend his title next month.
"I think the atmosphere sells the track, we know how intimate it is and I think once you've got a crowd at The Valley, you can't go wrong," she said.
"Obviously, Zaaki at Flemington was a great thrill, Mugatoo the year before was fantastic and we're looking forward to seeing quite the field on the 18th of March."
