Cox Plate Carnival raises $130,000 for Charity Pin partner Myeloma Australia

This week, the Moonee Valley Racing Club proudly presented Myeloma Australia, the 2024 Cox Plate Carnival Charity Pin partner, with a cheque for $130,000.

This year’s Spring Carnival marked the beginning of a three-year partnership with Myeloma Australia as the Cox Plate Carnival Charity Pin partner.

Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer that currently affects around 22,000 Australians. Myeloma Australia is dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering those living with the disease, as well as their loved ones, while also increasing awareness and understanding within the community.

Raising $130,000 over the Carnival is a testament to the combined dedication of Myeloma Australia’s staff, volunteers, ambassadors, and the Club. This achievement reflects a strong partnership, and the Club is proud to have played a role in supporting such a committed organisation.

“It's not easy to pull a partnership like this together. Plenty of volunteers, from Myeloma Australia and also from the Club, made this a great success this year,” MVRC CEO Michael Browell said.

“A special thank you, too, to the ambassadors who came through to support the partnership.”

Jeff Browne, Sandy Roberts, Marlo McCarthy, Karen Wilde, and Denis Napthine were among the Myeloma Australia ambassadors who played an important role in supporting the efforts to raise funds and awareness.

Funds were raised through the sale of Cox Plate Charity Pins and several fundraising initiatives, including the Ladbrokes Cox Plate Golf Invitational, the Racing and Fashion Lunch, and Cheering for Charity.

The generosity of MVRC members, racegoers, and partners played a pivotal role in achieving this remarkable outcome.

The Club looks forward to building on the success of 2024 and strengthening its partnership with Myeloma Australia to achieve even greater results in the second year of this collaboration.
