Lloyd anticipates Valley return

Apprentice Madison Lloyd is set to make her return from a race fall at The Valley on Saturday with three rides.

Lloyd had been stood down from riding in trackwork by Racing Victoria's medical team after falling at Dunkeld on November 14.

She walked back to the jockeys' room and was cleared of any serious injuries after being unseated at the finish aboard Autumn's Best but was 'groggy' and experienced headaches after the incident.

RV's chief medical officer, Dr Gary Zimmerman, stood Lloyd down for a week but the young rider expects to gain clearance on Wednesday to ride at The Valley three days later.

"I'm hoping to get the tick of approval from Gary today and I'm strapping horses (for master Nathan Hobson) at Swan Hill today which will be good, it'll keep me busy," Lloyd said.

Lloyd has certainly kept busy on the racetrack, experiencing multiple milestones in a successful 2020/21 season so far.

The 19-year-old rode her first metropolitan winner aboard the Russell Osborne-trained Beautiful Bee at Sandown Hillside on September 9 and then two weeks later notched her first Flemington winner on the Hobson-trained Yulong Storm.

Lloyd is booked to reunite with Beautiful Bee and ride the Hobson-trained pair Okotoks and Reward With Return at The Valley on Saturday.

Lloyd has ridden 94 winners during her career and leads this season's Victorian Country Jockey Premiership with 30 victories, one win clear of John Allen. Only Allen, Jamie Kah and Damien Oliver have ridden more winners across Victoria this season.
