Typhoon test for explosive 'Annie

Progressive filly Seannie has bounced through her breathtaking first-up win at The Valley in super order, prompting co-trainer Trent Busuttin to revise her summer program to include Friday night's Group 3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m).

The daughter of Sebring reeled off a series of slick closing sectionals when powering home from the tail of the field to win a Benchmark 70 Handicap on February 9 and while the initial plan was to race second-up in next month's Kewney Stakes (1400m), Busuttin said Seannie's pleasing recovery and her liking for the unique Moonee Valley circuit warranted a black-type tilt over six furlongs.

Friday night's $150,000 contest has attracted a handy field of three-year-olds including G1-placed Tulip and last-start Gosford Guineas (1200m) winner Bella Martini but Busuttin is optimistic that his filly only needs to reproduce her last-start performance to be competitive from barrier seven for Regan Bayliss.

"She had a very quiet week after her win, we gave her a gallop yesterday and Natalie (Young) was very happy with her," Busuttin said.

"We were originally looking at going into the Kewney Stakes over 1400m with a month between runs but she came through the run so well, she loves The Valley, it's a Group 3 race and the owner is keen and happy to have a crack.

"Tulip is a very classy filly and the Team Hawkes horse (Bella Martini) is racing very well but our filly only needs to produce the same performance we saw first-up to be in the mix.

"Hopefully she doesn't have to be last (in the run) every time because a racing style like that will eventually catch up with her.

"She's drawn well enough and you'd hope that over 1200m there would be a bit of speed like last time, maybe with something coming across from a wide barrier."

Victory would secure Seannie a second Stakes win - she won the Listed Supremacy Stakes (1000m) in Perth as a two-year-old when in the care of trainer Simon Miller - and would continue the stable's incredible record with three-year-olds this season.

Of Busuttin and Young's 44 victories for the season, 30 have come from three-year-old horses and that figure could grow considerably over the coming weeks with talented youngsters Main Stage, Sully and Hapuka embarking on Group 1 campaigns.
