Steph Thornton gets There at Valley

Apprentice Steph Thornton chalked up her first Saturday metro winner at Moonee Valley, as Here To There banked two wins in seven days for trainer Ciaron Maher.

The Ladbrokes Handicap (1500m) featured a few returning prospects - Articus, Boom Time, Raw Impulse, Grey Lion, Harlow Gold, I'm Feeling Lucky and Lord Van Percy - but it was the rock-hard fit eight-year-old that delivered a memorable win for 18-year-old Thornton.

It was just Thornton's third career ride at The Valley, and she's already found her way to the winner's stall.

Meanwhile, apprentice Raquel Clark had a day out with a treble at Morphettville on Saturday - her fifth career treble, and one winner shy of her personal-best of four.
