Chorlton Lane is a 1400-metre specialist
The Moonee Valley Racing Club are excited to announce Chorlton Lane as its slot representative for the inaugural $1 million The Supernova (1400m) at Pakenham on Saturday, 21 December.
Chorlton Lane, a five-year-old Irish import, began his career in the United Kingdom before heading to Australia after just two starts.
Trained by Ciaron Maher, he has been a model of consistency, recording six wins and seven minor placings from 17 career appearances. His latest victory came in the $200,000 Canberra Community Chest over the same distance as The Supernova.
Head of Racing Charlotte Mills described Chorlton Lane as an ideal candidate for the $1 million feature.
“Chorlton Lane heads to Pakenham in terrific form, and his record over 1400 metres is outstanding,” Mills said.
“It’s exciting to partner with the Ciaron Maher stable, and a win would be a fantastic result for his large ownership group.”
“The first leg of Southside Racing’s slot series, The Meteorite, was a resounding success, and we are looking forward to The Supernova on Cup Day at Pakenham.”
Chorlton Lane has proven himself a 1400m specialist, with five of his six career wins coming at the distance.
He’ll carry the Club colours in the race, which is run under set weights and penalties conditions.
