Who starred at Breakfast With The Best?

After Via Sistina stole most of the headlines at Breakfast with the Best at The Valley on Tuesday morning when she got loose after parting company with James McDonald, attention turned back to the work taking place ahead of Saturday's Cox Plate.

Broadsiding worked in company with his James Cummings-trained stablemate Adinath and looked most comfortable around The Valley circuit. He appeared to travel well under Jamie Kah and quickened nicely up the home straight to run 1200m in 1:22.05, with his final 400m in 24.49 seconds.

Team Hayes paired up Mr Brightside and Poifect for a workout, with Poifect leading the early stages of the gallop.

Mr Brightside, who wore winkers, came through along the inside of his workmate in the home straight to complete his 1000-metre assignment in 1:05 78 and his final 400m in 25.20s. He appeared to have plenty in reserve and is sure to be at his peak for the Cox Plate.

Mornington Glory provided trainer Gavin Bedggood with his first Group 1 win and he worked in typically sharp fashion on Tuesday morning in preparation for Saturday's McEwen Stakes (1200m).

He dashed up the home straight in impressive style to run 800m in 50.97s, his closing 400m in a slick 23.90s, and looks primed to run to his best on Saturday.

Kingswood, also prepared by Bedggood, seems to have come through his Coongy win at Caulfield in terrific order and was kept up to the mark striding over 800m in 51.27s and his last 400m in 25.12s. He heads to Saturday's JRA Cup and should prove hard to beat again.

Andrew Forsman sent Positivity out for a solid workout leading into Friday night's Moonee Valley Gold Cup and she maintained a strong gallop over 1600m. Her effort to run the journey in 1:50.26 and her final 400m in 25.02s should have her at peak fitness for Friday night's feature.

The Cox Plate is shaping as an enthralling contest and based on the Tuesday's gallops, I have a slight leaning to Broadsiding.

Outside of the Cox Plate, the Bedggood-trained stablemates Mornington Glory and Kingswood worked in most impressive fashion leading into their respective assignments.
