MVRC announces $1 million Ladbrokes Supernova runner at Southside Pakenham on December 13

MVRC lock Group 1 winner for $1 million Supernova

Group 1 winner Pinstriped is set to represent the Moonee Valley Racing Club on December 13 in the $1 million Ladbrokes Supernova at Southside Pakenham.Following the Club’s victory combining with McEwen Stakes winner Jigsaw in the $1 million Ladbrokes Meteorite, it’s another Valley specialist in Enver Jusufovic’s Feehan Stakes winner who will fly the flag for the Club in the 1400 metre contest.Pinstriped, an earner of $1.9 million in prizemoney, last raced on November 15 when finishing fourth in the Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes.“Pinstriped is a proven Group 1 performer at 1400 metres as a winner of the Memsie Stakes and he lost no admirers last start finishing behind the likes of Jimmysstar and Angel Capital,” MVRC Chief Executive Michael Browell said.“We intensified our search after Jigsaw’s win the Ladbrokes Supernova and are pleased to come to an arrangement with a horse of Pinstriped’s quality and hope the Club remain at the top of the Slot Series Bonus leaderboard.”The Moonee Valley Racing Club sits atop of the leaderboard on 14 points, with the leader after the two-race series driving away with a new $60,000 vehicle.Carleen Hefel will wear a special set of silks which combines the MVRC logo with Pinstriped’s familiar colours and Jusufovic is confident the seven-year-old is ready to run a big race.“It’s been a frustrating preparation without much luck and the public probably haven’t seen the proper Pinstriped this spring,” his trainer said.“But he is holding his condition really well and has been working terrific so I’d expect nothing less than a bold showing.“I think the Pakenham circumference will really suit him.”The Moonee Valley Racing Club finished in equal first place in the 2024 Slot Series Bonus when Baraqiel and Chorlton Lane both finished third in the Meteorite and Supernova.

The Valley will once again play host to a leg of the National Pony Racing Series, with the Victorian event set to take place on 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes Day, Saturday 22 March.A collaboration between Pony Club Australia and Thoroughbred Industry Careers (TIC), the series is designed to educate young riders on careers in the racing and breeding industry, giving them a taste of professional competition on major racedays.The series features six race meetings across Australia, culminating in the national finals in June. Before the Victorian leg, Ballarat hosted a Jumpstart weekend, where participants received riding instruction, horse health education, career insights, and rider fitness training.&nbsp;In preparation for their big moment on 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes Day, competitors will also take part in a training day at The Valley to familiarise themselves with the track.On Saturday, two pony races will be held for state finalists aged 9 to 15. The first, over 450m at 11:30 am, is for ponies not exceeding 12.2hh, while the second, over 700m, is for ponies not exceeding 14hh. That event will take place following Race 3 on the card at 1:30 pm.&nbsp;Moonee Valley Racing Club has enjoyed its association with TIC and Pony Club Australia, providing young riders with the opportunity to gain experience on a major racing stage. The Valley hosted a leg of the first National Pony Racing Series in 2023, and last year on 3 Point Motors William Reid Stakes Day held a Shetland Pony Race.With the next generation of riders set to take centre stage once again, The Valley looks forward to another thrilling chapter in this growing series.
