The second leg of the National Pony Racing Series is set down for Friday night, October 27, at The Valley, where some of Australia’s best junior riders will showcase their horse skills while being mentored by two legends of Australian racing.

Pony Racing returns to The Valley on Ladbrokes Cox Plate Eve

<div class="raw-html-embed"><p>General admission tickets for Cox Plate Day have officially sold out.</p>
<p>Over 20,000 punters will be let through the gates at The Valley next Saturday for what is marketed as ‘Australia’s Best Race’ with all 4500 GA tickets snapped up a week out.</p>
<p>The Valley will have a reduced footprint due to development works this year, below that of the 38,000 that flooded through the turnstiles and saw Winx salute in a history making fourth straight Cox Plate in 2018.</p>
<p>Other ways to get into the course to watch the Cox Plate next Saturday include buying a grandstand seat starting at $125, registering as an MVRC member from $195 or joining in the Ladbrokes Lawn Party for $400.</p>
<p>Having handed the reins to jockey and musician Robbie Dolan last year play the traditional The Horses prior to the main race, Daryl Braithwaite’s timeless classic will be played by Golden Guitar winning signer James Johnston. Johnston’s debut album Raised Like That is currently #1 on ARIA Top 20 Albums of all genres which he will also play from on the day.</p>
<p>Braithwaite was committed elsewhere on Cox Plate Day.</p>
<p>General Admission tickets are still available for Cox Plate Eve, now headlined by the Moonee Valley Gold Cup, with an after party with DJ Will Sparks following the last race.</p>
<p>The unique Breakfast with the Best trackwork session will occur on Tuesday morning with key chances set to be put through their paces. Entry is just a gold coin donation.</p></div>

<p><strong>The Moonee Valley Racecourse is going through a period of transformation to become a world-class, sustainable precinct that will see the legacy of this historic and much-loved precinct continue well into the future.</strong></p><p>To help us achieve this vision, a master plan was prepared to guide the redevelopment of the racing precinct. The master plan was developed in collaboration with a range of stakeholders and was approved by Moonee Valley City Council in October 2021.</p><p>To date, the approved master plan has guided permit approvals for the realignment of the racetrack, construction of new racing infrastructure, infield car parking and ride share super stop, lighting, and a maintenance facility for the new racecourse. The Grandstand Precinct is the next phase to bring the approved master plan to life. A planning application has been lodged with Moonee Valley City Council.</p><p>As the planning application is consistent with the approved master plan, and planning controls in place, the planning process does not require public notice and review.
