Valley hit-out for Amelia's Jewel

Amelia's Jewel headlines a star-studded line-up of gallopers set to take to Moonee Valley on Monday morning ahead of the Group 1 Moir Stakes meeting next Friday.

With a Cox Plate on the radar, Simon Miller's star mare will contest the G2 Stocks Stakes (1600m) at her second Victorian start after an ultra-impressive win in the G2 Let's Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.

"I fly back to Melbourne on Sunday, so I'll have a look at her and watch her work around The Valley on Monday, so it will be good fun," Miller said.

"We'll go there to get her used to it.

"I think if you're young it probably doesn't matter, because if you've got ability, you can win even if you don't handle the track, but when you're playing weight-for-age or against a better class of horses, you have to dot the 'I's and cross the 'T's because the margin for error is not as great."

Miller said his four-year-old has recovered well from her first-up win and will have her work ramped up from Thursday ahead of the Stocks Stakes.

"She's had a pretty cruisy few days, just had a bit of a trot and canter, we'll roll into her now, she's just starting to breathe fire again," Miller said.

"She'll strip fitter for that run."

Henry Dwyer's Asfoora will also step out at Moonee Valley on Monday morning, along with Queenslander Uncommon James.
