Nicc too slick in Summer Sprinters Final

Red Hot Nicc's red hot form continued at The Valley on Sunday, taking out the $125,000 The Measure Engineering Valley Summer Sprinters Series Final. The Phillip Stokes-trained four-year-old started 2023 with impressive victories at Flemington and The Valley before a last start third, and he made it three wins from his past four starts when leading throughout the 1200m race. With Zac Spain doing the steering, Red Hot Nicc gave his rivals the slip turning for home. While there was a wall of horses doing the chasing - a gap of just a length covered second to fifth across the line - they couldn't catch the son of Nicconi. Red Hot Nicc, who jumped the $2.30 favourite, held a margin of 3/4 of-a-length over Extreme Flight. Spain described the gelding as 'tough', having had eight starts for the campaign which began back in November. "He's got good natural gate speed, he's got a high cruising speed and he can sustain it," Spain said. "He's as tough as nails and he's done a really good job this prep, he's been up a long time." The other feature on the Community Day card was The Orbit Logistics Valley Summer Stayers Series Final (2500m). A top front-running ride by apprentice Thomas Stockdale saw the Archie Alexander-trained Mr French lead all the way. Favourite Wagon Wheel chased hard once getting clear running in the straight, but fell a long neck short. Mr French has now won four of his past six starts. While there was no joy for favourite backers in The Orbit Logistics Valley Summer Stayers Series Final, a couple of odds-on favourites delivered mighty impressive performances. The opening race of the day - the Moonee Valley Park Plate - saw the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Tass pick up her maiden victory in emphatic fashion, putting four lengths on her nearest rival. On a day where the rail was the place to be, Ceasar was yet another who made the most of finding the front, putting a big space on his rivals in the Resolve Environmental Handicap (1600m). The Mike Moroney gelding had been knocking on the door of a win with a couple of close-up minor placings at The Valley at his past two starts, and broke through with a dominant 2 1/4 length victory over Kiptanui. The next meeting at The Valley will be on Saturday March 18, for Sharp EIT All-Star Mile day. To book your tickets, head to thevalley.com.au

Construction of Trackside House and Stonepine House commences July marked another important milestone with the sod-turning ceremony held at Moonee Valley Park, which signalled the beginning of construction for Trackside House and Stonepine House. This ceremony was significant in the ongoing redevelopment project of our new community, accomplished in collaboration with our Development Partners: Hamton, Hostplus, ISPT, and builders Icon. The commencement of Trackside House and Stonepine House stages signifies the culmination of Phase 1, and we are delighted to witness the progress of the project so far. These stages bring us closer to realising the vision of Moonee Valley Park, offering an exceptional living experience for our future residents. We eagerly anticipate the completion of these stages in 2025.Trackside House will provide 204 apartments, offering a modern and luxurious lifestyle with breathtaking views of the track. Stonepine House will feature 122 apartments, blending contemporary design with the natural beauty of the surrounding parkland. Both developments will contribute significantly to the growth and vibrancy of our community. We extend thanks to our Development Partners Hamton, Hostplus, and ISPT for their unwavering commitment and expertise throughout this journey.
