Moody ponders sprinters' spring paths

The Pakenham-based training combination of Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman could end up with two live chances in The Everest this spring.

While last year's runner up I Wish I Win has already secured a slot for the lucrative sprint race, Moody suggested that this year's T.J. Smith Stakes winner Chain Of Lightning could also head in that direction.

Both horses are already in work as the Spring Carnival draws closer.

"She likes a bit of cut in the ground, so it depends where that presents, it might be down here, it might be in Sydney," Moody said of Chain Of Lightning.

"We'll put her on that (Everest) path and see where she lands and if she doesn't get a slot or she's not going well enough, then we might go for the consolation or something like that."

As for I Wish I Win, Moody said that he could head into The Everest third-up, with the Griup 1 Moir Stakes on September 7 and the G1 Manikato Stakes on September 27 potentially serving as his first two starts for the campaign.

I Wish I Win is the clear favourite with Sportsbet for The Everest at $4.50, while Chain Of Lightning is rated as a $26 chance.
