Parnham hopes for a slice of luck

Western Australian hoop Brad Parnham knows he's going to need a lot of luck in Friday night's William Reid Stakes at The Valley.

Drawn barrier 14 on his father Neville's horse Indian Pacific, a lot of things have to go right for Brad Parnham to secure a maiden Group 1 win.

"I couldn't be happier with him. He's drawn a bit awkward, but apart from that he is doing really well," Parnham said of the Newmarket runner-up.

"It (the barrier draw) is tricky, but, you know, it's something we have to deal with. I think he will still be in a forward position.

"There does seem to be a little bit more pace in this race, so I probably wouldn't necessarily lead. I think I've got to ride him to however he is comfortable and if I get the luck then I get it.

"We are going to need a little bit of luck, I can't imagine we could park out wide and be too good for them."

Indian Pacific is a $27 chance with Sportsbet for the William Reid.
