No William Reid for Kemalpasa

It was initially thought that Oakleigh Plate placegetter Kemalpasa would be headed towards the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at The Valley on Friday night, but he is a notable absentee.

Richard Jolly, who trains the gelding in partnership with his daughter Chantelle, reported that the decision was made to give him a little freshen up after a stone bruise forced his scratching from the G1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on March 6.

"We were bitterly disappointed to miss the Newmarket because of a stone bruise in his near fore," Jolly said.

"Unfortunately, we couldn't get on top of it and we were battling to get a gallop into him to prepare for the William Reid.

"Consequently, we decided to send him to the paddock for 10-12 days and we'll get him back and set him for The Goodwood in May now in our own backyard."

Jolly also reported Regalo Di Gaetano had come through his 11th placing in The All-Star Mile in fine order and will be set for races through the Adelaide Autumn Carnival.

"It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved with the horse to be a part of not just the day, but for the owners who embraced the whole week," he said.

"I thought the horse ran ok and in fact at the top of the home straight it looked like he might finish top seven or eight."
