O'Sullivan dreams of All-Star spot

Ballarat trainer Dan O’Sullivan is daring to dream with talented mare Affair To Remember.

O’Sullivan’s stable star holds a nomination for this year’s All-Star Mile and while she doesn’t feature high on the leaderboard, he is hopeful a late flurry of votes can get her into the final field.

Otherwise, O’Sullivan will chase a wildcard entry into the $5m race on March 13.

“We need a few more people to get on board, of course, like we all do,” O’Sullivan said.

“If we don’t get the votes hopefully she can … get a wildcard. I’d love to know going into it (her lead up runs) that we’ve got enough votes to get into it.

“She has come back in really well, only had a short break, just over three weeks. She has taken to living in a paddock here during the day to, it’s been a really big help to her.

“She had her first serious gallop (last week) and I couldn’t be happier with how she has come up, how she looks.

“It (the All-Star Mile) would be a really good test of where she is at. It would be very exciting to have her in there.”

Going by the stable name Bubbles, track rider and strapper Jaylah Kennedy spends every second possible with Affair To Remember.

“I ride her every morning and have done for the last wee while,” Kennedy said.

“She is a beautiful horse, she has her quirks. But I know all her tricks and her traits.

“You love a horse with a bit of personality, a bit of character. She has a will to win.”
