Morrissy eyes ASM with ... Morrissy

Owner Shane Morrissy will be calling on his large pool of family and friends to sneak the aptly named Morrissy into the 2021 All-Star Mile.

The consistent Leon and Troy Corstens-trained five-year-old is among the nominations for the $5 million race which will be run for the first time at The Valley in March.

Troy Corstens said he is now starting to map a path to the race for Morrissy, who has finished in the money at 16 of his 25 starts.

"I had a chat with Shane Morrissy during the week and Shane was very keen. He said, 'Look, let's put him in, I've got a big family and we are half a chance to get enough votes to get him in'," Corstens said with a chuckle.

"But he's a very consistent horse and he does a fantastic job. It would be a lovely race to target him for.

"So he's in and now we're working on his campaign to try and get him in there."

Corstens said Morrissy is likely to run on New Years Day in Sydney before progressing through to the Gold Coast's Magic Millions meeting.

"Then on the way back down we will work out how to get him to The All-Star Mile after that," he said.
