Round the bend for Prezado

Flemington trainer Simon Zahra hopes Prezado doesn't send him round the bend when he takes to the corner at The Valley on Saturday.

The speedy gelding will compete in the Listed Carlyon Stakes in what will be his first time around a bend since March.

In between those runs the son of Denman had been dominant down the straight, winning three times and finishing second from four starts.

Zahra said he and co-trainer Mat Ellerton wanted to test Prezado at a higher level and doing that meant having to go away from Flemington.

"I couldn't be more pleased with him. He's had a really good break and a great preparation going into it," Zahra said.

"So we are off to The Valley on Saturday, which is scary for this kind of horse, going around a corner. But we've got to throw him (in) at this sort of level and see if he can get around a bend for us.

"He has gone to this level now and if you restrict yourself to the straight then they are generally Benchmark 90s. This race suits him, he gets well in.

"We've got to try a few things with him and this looks and ideal race."

Drawn barrier one with Jamie Kah to ride, Prezado is rated a $5 chance with Sportsbet.

"He looks well weighted (with 57kg)," Zahra said.

"He's got pretty good fresh form. If he can get around a bend, then they will certainly know he's there."
