Daryl's back! Bring on 'The Horses'

Aussie music legend Daryl Braithwaite is back with a bang to once again sing his iconic song 'The Horses' before Saturday's Cox Plate.

After more than a decade performing at the Cox Plate, Braithwaite was a scratching from last year's event, with the Moonee Valley Racing Club having to get a choir to sing the tune ahead of the 2019 race.

But with Saturday's race being the historic 100th running of the Cox Plate, it was paramount for the main man to be back on stage, especially for such a special year.

"There's no denying it's going to be a different carnival this year, but it's the 100th running of such an iconic race and we're really happy with the field assembled and also of course happy to have Daryl back," said Alastair Dwyer, MVRC's GM - Racing, Media & Communications.

"It's become a really special part of the day and the build-up to the race, it will be different this year without thousands on track singing it, but hopefully everyone will get to enjoy it and sing along watching it from home."
