Kent Jnr keen to test rising Bracelet

Michael Kent Jnr is eyeing a Group 1 path with talented mare My Gold Bracelet.

The former Kiwi will head to Friday night's Group 2 Stocks Stakes (1600m) at The Valley, but it's later in the spring that Kent Jnr hopes she will make her presence felt.

"The obvious program is the Lady's Day Vase on the Wednesday of the Caulfield Carnival, then to the Empire Rose and then maybe a back-up to the Matriarch (Stakes) on Stakes Day," Kent Jnr said.

"She's a Group 2 winner already, that's what we bought her for. The program here in Melbourne allows you to have that opportunity to run in some great races and if she can win one of those, it's job done and her value rises immensely.

"We think she will appreciate 10 furlongs, so the Matriarch would be a lovely race for her at the end of the spring."

Friday night's assignment looms as a nice one for My Gold Bracelet.

While she was disappointing in the G2 Let's Elope at Flemington, Kent Jnr said there were excuses for that performance.

He said her work through the week - including a gallop at The Valley on Monday - had her spot on for Friday.

"She jarred up on the firm track at Flemington last start, like a lot of horses unfortunately," he said.

"We had her down at the beach. We had her down at Moonee Valley on Monday morning and she worked outstanding.

"She worked with Ironedge and they ran the second-fastest last 400m of the morning under a tight hold. John Allen rode her and was rapt with her work."

Kent Jnr said there were 'two key positives' ahead of the Stocks Stakes - a rise in distance and forecast rain.

"She's won three on the Soft and with the natural cushion at Moonee Valley, it should be right up her alley," he said.

"She's drawn 10 of 11, so we will see what happens. We have the option of riding her quiet if they're running on, or we could push forward.

"That mare Greysful Glamour won that race last year having a soft lead and won by five lengths. So we wouldn't want her to get away with that again.

"We are very happy with her. I think she will run into the placings. She's a high-quality mare."
