Anders set for Valley gallop

Anders will have an important familiarisation gallop at Moonee Valley on Monday morning ahead of his first race at Group 1 level later this week.

David Eustace, who trains Anders in partnership with Ciaron Maher, confirmed to Racing.com on Saturday that Anders, who is yet to race left-handed, would gallop at The Valley ahead of the $1m G1 Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes (1000m) on Friday night.

Anders has been stabled at Caulfield in anticipation of the Moir where Craig Williams is booked to ride at 52kg in the weight-for-age contest. Fellow lightweight rider Jye McNeil, who secured the mount on Orderofthegarter for the Caulfield Cup on Sunday, has been listed as Anders rider for the Monday morning gallop.

Anders has raced eight times for four wins and two placings, twice leading throughout last month for convincing victories in the Listed $140,000 Rosebud (1100m) and most recently in the G3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on August 29.

The Not A Single Doubt colt raced by Aquis was purchased by Widden Stud last Wednesday, securing his future post-racing and victory in the Moir will ensure his value multiplies in the breeding barn.

The last three-year-old colt to win the Moir was Extreme Choice in 2016 who stands at Newgate Farm for a service fee of $22,000 with his oldest progeny aged two and on the verge of racing.

The Moir Stakes will be run as the second-last of eight races from The Valley on Friday night at 8:15pm (AEST) with the meeting starting at 5:15pm.
