Group 1 mission back on track

West Australian trainer Tiarnna Robertson’s Group 1 mission with Fabergino is back on track after the pair arrived in Victoria on Wednesday.

Robertson had been aiming her star mare at the Group 1 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley on September 25, but the COVID-19 pandemic had her scrambling to find a flight for her horse.

Thankfully Robertson and Fabergino were able to find a solution with the horse to be based with Jason Warren.

“We’ve obviously been in communication about getting a flight since COVID started, but we got the nod about two weeks ago however nothing was guaranteed,” Robertson said.

“For the last two weeks we have been planning about definitely getting over here. Luckily it all worked out.

“She seemed to travel really well this time. We had a nice, smooth flight which helped.”

Fabergino is a $7 chance for the Moir Stakes with Sportsbet.

Robertson said she would have to undergo a COVID-19 test before being cleared to exit quarantine.

“I get a COVI test (Friday) morning. Once the results of that are out then I’m free,” she said.

“They are looking after her for me down at Jason Warren’s place until I get released.

“It’s not the easiest but it’s what we have to do to get through. If it means we are getting to Melbourne and racing then we are doing whatever is asked of us.”

Robertson said she was looking to give Fabergino “one to two” more runs in Victoria after the Moir.

“We are only aiming for two runs but it just depends on how everything plays out and how she pulls up and how she’s running,” she said.
