Corstens aims for winning start to 2020/21

With two runners engaged at The Valley on Saturday, Leon and Troy Corstens are confident that the pair can get the stable off to a winning start for the new season.

After more than 40 winners in 2019/20, the younger Corstens expects Clean Machine and Titan Blinders to be hard to beat, luck permitting.

"Clean Machine is a lovely filly, we’ve always had time for her," Troy Corstens said.

"We had her up ready to go nice and early and then it was always the plan to give her a break at the farm and now she's back ready to launch at the spring.

"She's really come on, she put on about 10kg at the farm, she had a terrific jumpout last week at Flemington, she's drawn nicely, should get a good run, I'd be really disappointed if she didn't run a big race."

Titan Blinders will step out for the first time this preparation over 1200m with a peach of a ride required from jockey John Allen.

"He's really good, he's come back bigger and stronger and he's really sound," he said.

"The only concern is the barrier, had we not drawn so awkwardly I'd be pushing hard for him.

"I still think he'll run a big race and John Allen has done both the trials on him, so he knows him quite well."
