Update on MVRC Membership
The Moonee Valley Racing Club has announced key changes to the 2020 / 21 Membership program in response to the on-going impact of COVID-19 and the current Stage 3 restrictions that have placed metropolitan Melbourne in a six-week lockdown.
Existing MVRC members will be rewarded with a five-month extension to their current 2019 / 20 membership. The 2019 / 20 membership will be extended until December 31 at no additional cost.
The MVRC will now take this opportunity to transition from the traditional racing season membership model (1 August – 31 July) to a new calendar year membership model from January 1 2021.
In light of the current Stage 3 restrictions across metropolitan Melbourne and the uncertainty over crowds returning to the racetrack throughout the Spring Racing Carnival, the MVRC has made the decision to incorporate the 2020 Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival into the extended 2019 / 20 Membership period. This will include the celebration of the 100th running of the W S Cox Plate on Saturday 24 October.
“First and foremost, our members are the lifeblood of our great Club, and we greatly appreciate their continued support,” said Michael Browell, MVRC CEO.
“With so much uncertainty at this point in time as to what the next six to twelve months may hold, the MVRC Committee agreed to extend the current 2019 / 20 memberships for a further five months at no additional charge, with for all existing membership benefits to continue throughout this period,” said Browell.
“The Club is not yet in a position to confirm spectator arrangements for the new racing season - including the 2020 Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival. We have deferred the on-sale date for tickets and hospitality packages for the Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival until we have more clarity on the likely attendance limits that will apply across the two-day Carnival”.
