Kah likes 'superstar' Splendor

Trainer John Sadler has gone on record saying Sartorial Splendor could be the best horse he has ever trained and jockey Jamie Kah couldn't argue after they combined to win the Group 3 1300 Australia Stakes at The Valley on Saturday.

Sadler has been singing the praises of the colt since his debut last April and the son of Brazen Beau put it all together over the 1200-metre trip in an effort that clearly impressed Kah.

"He has so much ability," she enthused after his length-and-a-quarter victory. "He's very talented. He's just a very difficult horse to handle in the running. He wants to do it a bit too hard.

"If he learns to settle, he's going to be a superstar."

Sartorial Splendor ($3.30) showed plenty of speed from the gates to lead easily and after he switched off for the middle part of the race, Kah had something to work with turning for home when the colt kicked hard.

"He was tough early and then he relaxed for a furlong and then he got that little breather and kicked again," she explained. "But if he can relax for more of the race, he's going to be so good."

Kah and Sadler have the perfect record together as Kah had only ridden once for the Caulfield trainer before Saturday for a winner.
