Gangemis hoping for Magic in Melbourne

Western Australia-based galloper Rock Magic will be heading to Melbourne on Thursday night, with the Gangemis setting new targets for their 10-year-old gelding.

After Rock Magic trialled impressively on Monday, Gangemi Racing's General Manager of Racing, Michael Gangemi, said they couldn't resist the possibilities in Melbourne.

"He trialled super on Monday, he's come back in magnificent order," Gangemi said.

"We were going to set him for the Perth Carnival, but with so many suitable options in Melbourne we believe he deserves an opportunity to mix it with the best again."

While his program isn't confirmed, Gangemi didn't rule out the possibility of paying a late entry fee for the Manikato Stakes next Friday night at The Valley.

"He was beaten under a length last prep by Redkirk Warrior. With so many good sprinters going to The Everest, I think we'd be stupid not to look at the Manikato," he added.

"His work is as good as ever, he's happy and enjoying himself, we're really excited to have him racing in Melbourne again for such a great bunch of owners."
