The only two female jockeys left at The Valley on Saturday afternoon fought out the finish of the Group 2 McEwen Stakes with Jamie Kah edging out Linda Meech in an epic battle.
Kah's mount Faatinah improved his first-up record to six wins from eight starts with another game on-pace performance, capturing the lead from Eduardo inside the final 250m before holding out the late challenge of Meech on Bons Away.
Kah, who registered her maiden Group 1 victory aboard Lindsay Park's Harlem earlier this year, said Saturday's win rated among her career highlights.

Meech, who won last season's Victorian Premiership and already has eight metropolitan wins to her name this season, said she was proud of Bons Away's effort.
"He's only got a short, sharp sprint but he tried hard," Meech said.
Ben Hayes said Faatinah, who was having his first run since a winning campaign in Dubai, would next line up in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) on Grand Final Eve.
The son of Nicconi has finished sixth in the past two editions of the Moir.
