Best Of Days to find form in Feehan

Cantala Stakes winner Best Of Days is poised to return to his peak form in Saturday's Group 2 Feehan Stakes at The Valley according to trainer James Cummings.

"The report after his gallop (at The Valley) on Tuesday was that he felt fantastic," Cummings reported in his weekly preview of Godolphin's Saturday runners.

"He had a good lung burner there on top of a first-up run that will have brought him on really nicely."

Best Of Days was backed from $14 to $9.50 when first-up in the Winx Stakes, where he tired late but was only beaten two lengths by the winner Samadoubt.

"He's a Group 1 winner at his ideal distance, but there's quality opposition to handle here. It'll be a good test," Cummings added.

Cummings takes a two-pronged attack into the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes, where Magic Millions winner Exhilarates attempts to add to her first-up Quezette Stakes win.

"She was outstanding first-up at Caulfield and she had a gallop at Moonee Valley on Tuesday that suggested she's held her form," he said.

"She worked with Pin Sec and they both handled The Valley nicely.

"She's (Pin Sec) at something of a crossroads as what she does on Saturday could determine what path she takes, but at this stage I'd say it could be the Jim Moloney Stakes in two weeks."

Meanwhile Deprive runs for the stable in the Chandler Macleod Stakes.

"He keeps on meeting capable sprinters and performing well against them," Cummings said.

"He's had a run at Moonee Valley and he went along nicely in a gallop there on Tuesday."

One of the stable's biggest stars, Avilius, races second-up in the Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick and Cummings said he could see no reason why he wouldn't go close.

"He's pressed on as normal and forged ahead since his run in the Group 1 (Winx Stakes)," he said.

"That was always going to be a formidable task for him at 1400m on a quick track but I was pleased to see him hit the line the way he did and we're looking forward to this, particularly if the track has the give in it that he likes.

"The opposition looks quite solid, so it'll be a good test that he's ready to tackle."

Cummings is expecting an improvement from his Golden Slipper Stakes winner Kiamichi, who tackles the Furious Stakes in Sydney.

"Her first-up run blew the cobwebs out," he said.

"She finished back in the pack, but she wasn't knocked about after suffering interference late in the race.

"On a more suitable track, she can improve."
