Members' Gate closes as Master Plan redevelopment takes flight

In what is a milestone moment for the Moonee Valley Racing Club, the iconic Members’ Gate on McPherson Street will be closing indefinitely as of Monday 27 May as the realisation of the Master Plan redevelopment comes to life.

Works are about to begin on Stage A of the MVRC’s Master Plan redevelopment as the Club looks to turn the first sod in what will see the beginning of the build of premium townhouses on McPherson Street. This officially starts our journey to The Valley of Tomorrow, allowing the Club to transform into a racing, residential and lifestyle precinct that has never been seen before. The most exciting part of the redevelopment will see the MVRC build a brand-new track and state-of-the-art grandstand post the 2024 Ladbrokes Cox Plate.

With every redevelopment there are going to be changes to the landscape as it progresses, with the first significant change to be the closure of the Members’ Gate on McPherson Street. MVRC Members will now be required to park in the centre car park on a raceday, with a dedicated Members’ area located near the centre turnstiles, which will provide ease of access to the Members’ Enclosure on a raceday. This will be clearly signed upon entry to the car park, with access available via Gate 7 on Wilson Street or Gate 6 on Dean Street. The centre car park is also accessible to the general public on racedays and for all event attendees on non-racedays. There will also be several dedicated car park spots via Gate 10 on Thomas Street for those vehicles displaying a disability parking permit. On non-racedays, a designated Member/Visitor Car Park will be located in the Horse Float Car Park near the Main Gate on McPherson Street, with walking access to the administration building.
