Plenty to like about Weir duo

Stablemates Land Of Plenty and Peaceful State ran the quinella in Saturday's Listed Chandler MacLeod Stakes (1200m) at The Valley and Darren Weir confirmed they would face off in several Group 1 races over the coming months.

The pair settled at the rear of the field and made contrasting runs from the 600m - Land Of Plenty looped the field from last under a confident Mark Zahra ride while John Allen plotted an inside course on Peaceful State - with only a neck separating them on the line.

Weir said both Land Of Plenty and Peaceful State would next tackle the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) before a likely tilt at the Toorak Handicap (1600m) next month.

Weir has dominated both the Rupert Clarke and Toorak in recent years with the likes of Trust In A Gust (Rupert Clarke and Toorak winner 2014), Stratum Star (Rupert Clarke winner in 2015), Lucky Hussler (Toorak winner in 2015) and Tosen Stardom (Toorak winner in 2017).
