Trainer Darren Weir had one of his best days at the track last Saturday, even pulling off a stable dead-heat.
This Saturday, he is vying to pull off a rarely-before-seen trick when lining up not only stablemates but 'owner-mates' when Roll The Dice-syndicated fillies Anjana and Krone go head-to-head in the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) at The Valley.
Granted, Weir can already lay claim to having quinellaed a race with two horses donning the same silks at least once this year - he had Australian Bloodstock-syndicated pair Brave Smash and Tosen Stardom run one-two in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in February.
This attempt will, like that one was for Jamie Lovett and Luke Murrell, be for some loyal connections, in Roll The Dice's Steve Travaglia, Leigh Saville and Robbie Norton.
While running one-two would seem a pipe dream rather than realistic looking at a strong list of nominations, Weir's two fillies are kicking off on a pathway towards the Group 1 Thousand Guineas.
Saville said on Tuesday morning that of the pair, the unbeaten Anjana is their better chance in terms of winning this Saturday.
"Anjana hasn't stepped up to Stakes class yet, but all reports are her times have been really slick and is going really well," Saville said.
"I'd expect she's a little more forward than Krone at the moment, but she's got the runs on the board winning a Stakes race in Adelaide.
"So it'll be interesting to see how they go first-up."
The pair jumped out at Mortlake on Tuesday morning, but it was Krone (ridden by Brad Rawiller) who settled back in the field before rocketing late under riding to finish second in the piece of work - while Anjana (Damian Lane) travelled wide on the speed to finish fifth in the 800-metre gallop on a heavy surface.
Saville hinted Krone, already a Stakes winner in Adelaide in her debut prep earlier this year, could even stretch out beyond the mile in time.
"She had a good break since running second to Khulaasa in the Group 3 down the straight [and then third in the Group 3 Breeders Stakes in Adelaide]," he added.
"She's had an excellent break, she's really furnished.
"She's given an indication she might get out over a bit further than Anjana, but it could be something really exciting on the cards for her."
