Enright star runs for Ryder

Her stable pin-up You've Been Had posted the most impressive of wins at The Valley on Saturday but trainer Lisa Enright's thoughts couldn't have been further from the winning enclosure following the victory.

While punters were cheering after the $2.75 favourite crossed the line, the Mornington horsewoman was thinking only of her nephew Ryder Enright, normally a regular at the track, who was diagnosed with leukaemia during the week and began treatment on Friday.

An emotional Enright paid tribute to the nine-year-old - her brother Matthew Enright's son - after the near three-length demolition under Ben Melham.

"I hope you're watching Ryder, that one was for you my little matey," Enright said.

"I bought this horse as a weanling and Ryder has been part of his life from when he was six months old.

"He's followed him through, he hasn't missed one of his races, he loves Dusty (You've Been Had) and he's the screen saver on his iPad.

"He had his first lot of chemo yesterday but he's got a big army behind him and we're all there and we'll get him through."
