Read how racing pundits, fans and punters alike are reacting to the news Winx won’t be travelling to Royal Ascot.
I've never heard the masses say a horse from the US or Europe NEEDS to travel in order to "prove" him/herself like they do for Winx. Sad thing is it has nothing to do with her & everything to do with perceived British superiority when on ratings she's every bit as good as them. — Candice Hare (@CandiceHare_) March 28, 2018

No @winx_horse at @Ascot @itvracing. Many will scoff but can't be one rule for @frankel_horse & one for Winx. Hard until you have been to @The_Cox_Plate to realise just how huge four wins in the race would be. Good luck to Winx & super star @HugeBowman. Very well said. It would be fitting if she won a fourth straight Cox Plate and held that record on her own. There's a good chance she could reach the Cox Plate in the Spring aiming to also make it 30 wins in a row! https://t.co/4eG1YwNDUU — Daniel O'Sullivan (@TRBHorseRacing) March 28, 2018

Just a shame that quarantine makes it such a difficult process for international visitors. Why would overseas connections travel to Australia and go through four weeks of quarantine when they can arrive a couple of days before the Breeders’ Cup, for instance? https://t.co/wttrPSL1rG — Andrew Hawkins (@AndrewNJHawkins) March 28, 2018

Everyone wants to have there say about #Winx but that facts are she is the number 1 horse in the world. If you want her title you come to her backyard and TAKE IT! And you can try do that @CoxPlate day! #Goodluck #YouWillNeedIt #BestInTheWorld — Jordan Byrne (@byrnesysbanter) March 28, 2018

Doing right by Winx is the most important thing. Very glad she has people who love her and put her first. I shall continue to watch online and on TV and cheer her on from the US. All the best to the Winx team. — Jennifer MβοΈ (@J_M1812) March 28, 2018

So Winx is dodging ascot..... ruining the chance to become Australia’s greatest horse??? Test yourself on the big stage, don’t run easy races in Australia #Winx — Chris Seymour (@chrisseymour91) March 28, 2018

WINX has proved herself to 20million people only. The greatest horses win at the Royal meeting on the world stage. Extremely disappointed with decision not to go to Ascot #Winx — soupnaziruckus (@soupnaziruckus) March 28, 2018

Winx isn’t coming to Royal Ascot. Another solid piece of proof that her owners would rather beat hackers in “Group 1s” than compete against the best. She’s Fake News. Not to be mentioned again. — Josh Oates (@MesutOatesil) March 28, 2018

That’s sad for racing that they won’t take Winx to conquer the world. — James Nankivell (@JamesNanks) March 28, 2018

I hated it. At her best, BC would’ve won by 5, but she was a shadow of herself & only fell in. I was overseas & actually felt ill watching it, because she’d by judged on that performance alone by most ppl from Europe. I’d hate to see Winx go over & not race near her best. — Brad βοΈiller (@HorseMiller3) March 28, 2018

America’s greatest horse Secretariat never left America. Frankel never left the UK. But #Winx has to go the UK to be our greatest? No way. #gooddecision — Andrew Scannell (@Andrew_Scannell) March 28, 2018

What a shame that the great #Winx is not coming to @Ascot after all. Her connections prefer to keep her in Australia. Well, all it means that we now have to travel across the pond to see her!! Go Winx!!! — Liz Price (@LizPriceRacing) March 28, 2018

Sad to see #Winx not being tested against Northern Hemisphere opponents at Royal Ascot, instead racing the same old nags here. But i guess prize money speaks. — Simon Shirley (@simonshirley72) March 28, 2018

Spot on Lucy. We will never see another horse like her in our lifetimes. She comes first. Not those wanting to profit from her. Chris Waller has proven again what a fantastic man he is. — Col James (@ColinJamesTiser) March 28, 2018

I'm pretty sure the connections of Frankel or Zenyatta never considered dragging their charges to Australia to prove a point #winx #coxplate4 #racing — Nat (@glascupark) March 28, 2018

How good would it be to see @winx_horse take on The Everest and the Cox Plate?! #excitementplus. She remains $15 with @tabcomau for The Everest @daveystan1 @braddavo @Quinny_1 — Andrew Hurley (@AndyHurleyaust) March 28, 2018

In a bad week for Australian sport, this is wonderful. There have been so few athletes that sport lovers stop for and Winx is one of them. Let the world come to us. — Luke Johnston (@lvj1980) March 28, 2018

Disappointed. I'd have loved to see her race in front of the Queen. But I understand and respect the decision. So proud of Winx, my heart could burst, so wherever she runs and whatever she does, I support her. — Diane π° (@FollowMal) March 28, 2018
