Jockey Jamie Mott got a much-deserved first Group 2 victory on Friday night, piloting hot odds-on favourite Cliff's Edge to victory in the Hacer Group Alister Clark Stakes (2040m).
Picking up the ride from the suspended John Allen, Mott - fresh off five rides during the day meeting at Sale - showed great hands on the Darren Weir-trained galloper, who was coming off a tough run in the Group 1 Australian Guineas.
The Peter Gelagotis-trained Levendi had a similarly tough run in the Guineas, and he - with the blinkers off - appeared the only real threat late to Cliff's Edge and they filled the quinella, with the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained Belfast running on strongly for third from the James Cummings-trained Astoria.

Mott, a dual-code hoop that also competes over jumps and has won an Australian Hurdle, sits second in the Victorian premiership this season with 64 winners.
Cliff's Edge's win wrapped up a Weir stable treble for the night, after King's Command and Whispering Brook.
