On Monday 22nd January the annual National Jockeys Trust T20 Cricket match will take place at Caulfield Park, with gates opening at 12pm.
The event is a fantastic opportunity to raise important funds and awareness for jockeys who have been seriously injured in riding accidents. The National Jockeys Trust also supports the families of those who have unfortunately passed away from their injuries.
This year The Valley is very proud to be sponsoring Cox Plate winning jockey Steven 'Chicken' Arnold as he and the Touchstone Farm Jockeys take on the Heritage Finance Racing All Stars to win the David Taggart Trophy.
The winner of the 2010 Cox Plate aboard So You Think has been recently riding in Mauritius and with their season finished he is back in Melbourne for the match.
“It’s a great cause, the event has really built a lot of momentum over previous years”
“Hopefully with no racing on Monday we can gather quite a crowd to help generate some awareness.”
When questioned on whether he had been in the practice nets Arnold said, “I’m going in pretty cold, I haven’t had an opportunity to get a hit in.”
He also joked about any jockey that rates their own ability should be wary of being shot down by their peers!
Arnold is very thankful of The Valley for throwing their support behind him for the upcoming T20 match and hopes the day can be a great success for the National Jockeys Trust.
