Winx draws six in Cox Plate

Winx will jump from barrier six in a final field of nine in Saturday's $3 million Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

Part-owner Peter Tighe opted to take barrier six for the super mare after barriers two, three, four and five had already been selected at a special function at Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning.

Winx jumped from barrier one in 2015 and barrier three last year.

Hugh Bowman rode Winx in her work on Tuesday and he said after the barriers were drawn that her work was ideal and that the barrier should pose no problems.

"I'm certainly feeling more comfortable after this morning," Bowman said.

"But I'm not going to fall into the trap of not having a healthy respect for my rivals. It’s a horse race and anything can happen."

Happy Clapper (9)

Gailo Chop (4)

Humidor (8)

Kaspersky (2)

Folkswood (5)

Seaburge (1)

Hardham (3)

Winx (6)

Royal Symphony (7)

The barrier draw was also conducted on Tuesday morning for Australia's richest night race - Friday's $1 million Manikato Stakes.

There were 11 final acceptances for the 1200-metre race headed by 2015 Manikato winner Chautauqua, who drew barrier 10.

The likely favourite Vega Magic, who is trained by the in-form Lindsay Park operation, drew favourably in gate three.
