The 2017/18 racing season at The Valley released

The Valley will play host to 23 race meetings next season with Racing Victoria having released its calendar for the upcoming 2017/18 season.

The new racing season at The Valley will commence on Saturday August 26 with the Mayoral Community Raceday, while the Ladbrokes Friday Night Lights season will kick-off on Friday September 29. This night will launch our 21st Night Racing Season and showcase the Group 1 Moir Stakes, as well as coincide with the AFL Grand Final Eve Public Holiday.

The world-famous Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival will deliver 24 hours of unmissable racing action and over $6 million in prizemoney on October 27 and 28. The 97th W.S. Cox Plate is one of the most awaited edition in years as Winx strives to match the legendary Kingston Town’s three consecutive victories in Australasia’s Weight-For-Age Championship.

“The 2017/18 season is an exciting period for the club with our new major partner Ladbrokes coming on board and Winx aiming to create history in our signature race,” says Moonee Valley Racing Club CEO Michael Browell.

“We have worked closely with Racing Victoria on this and thank them for their cooperation in delivering what we believe is a racing calendar that will benefit all participants and stakeholders,” Browell said.

One of the most significant changes to The Valley’s calendar is the news that the Club will now play host to the main metropolitan meeting on Australia Day, Friday January 26. This night meeting, which is a Public Holiday across the nation, will feature the Group 2 Australia Stakes. This meeting will be one of 16-night race meetings, while the club will also conduct seven day meetings of which one will be a Wednesday fixture.
