100th running of the W.S. Cox Plate

The 100th running of the W.S. Cox Plate will be a history-making occasion that will form the jewel in the crown of the 2020 Victorian Spring Racing Carnival. 

Put simply, the 2020 Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival will be unique event with no peer. The best of racing, entertainment and food coming together in two contrasting settings that, when combined, will provide an experience like no other.

Since its inauguration in 1922, the W.S. Cox Plate has been acknowledged as one of the classic events in international horse racing.

The W.S. Cox Plate is celebrated as Australia’s most sought-after prize, with past winners including Phar Lap, Kingston Town, Sunline, Northerly, Makybe Diva and So You Think.

In 2018, Winx became the first horse ever to win four W.S. Cox Plate races, an achievement many regarded as the greatest we have ever seen on a racetrack.

Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes Night is fast becoming the most vibrant and thrilling night of racing anywhere in the world, with the electric atmosphere under lights unsurpassed and the thundering hooves of the Group 1 horses rings across the amphitheatre that is The Valley.

The ‘Weight-for-Age Championship of Australasia’ is the pinnacle of the two-day Ladbrokes Cox Plate Carnival, the only racing carnival in the world that comprises of both night and day racing in less than 24 hours. The Valley will play host to 18 races and will offer more than $9.5 million in prizemoney.
