An update from the Moonee Valley Racing Club on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Moonee Valley Racing Club continues to work closely with the Victorian Government and Racing Victoria to work within the required protocols and provide a safe environment for everyone attending The Valley. This page will serve as an information hub for racegoers, which the Club will update regularly as latest information relevant to members, partners, industry participants and the wider public comes to hand.

Race Meetings
The Moonee Valley Racing Club is delighted to confirm we will be proceeding with our feature Lunar New Year race meeting this Friday night, 19 February and welcoming back members and guests, spectators and owners in line with the current agreed COVIDSafe protocols.

We are continuing to work closely with Racing Victoria and the State Government on the change of restrictions coming out of lockdown. The Club is committed to communicating any updates to all stakeholders as soon as they evolve.

Non-Race Day Events
Following the announcement of a 5-day Stage 4 lockdown in Victoria, The Valley is closed to the public and guests until Thursday 18 February.
The Club is working closely with Event Organisers on alternative plans. Please contact your event organiser for more details.

MASK REQUIREMENTS (updated 17 February 2021)

As per the government protocols, from Thursday 18 February, face masks are mandatory in public indoor spaces. Face masks must be worn in indoor public spaces apart from when eating or drinking.

The Valley require all racegoers to bring/carry a mask as a condition of entry. It is strongly recommended that masks be worn whenever you cannot keep 1.5 metres distance from others.

EXPOSURE SITES

Anyone who has visited an exposure site as listed on the DHHS website (https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/case-locations-and-outbreaks-covid-19)
will not be permitted to attend The Valley and should follow health advise by getting tested and isolating.

A COVIDSAFE RACE MEETING

The Victorian Government and Racing Victoria require all Victorian Racing Clubs to implement a large number of strict health and safety protocols to ensure that all participants, members, patrons and staff are safe. This means that your race day experience will be different to what you are used to. Please note the following protocols that will be in place, as well as refer to the description of each package before making your reservation:

You must remain in the area you have reserved ONLY, there will be no access to other areas of the racecourse 

You must remain at your table or seat at all times, unless ordering food or drink, using the bathrooms, smoking area or using TAB facilities or Bookmaker facilities

You must “sign in” via the QR code at the entrance point for potential contact tracing purposes which includes completion on a short health questionnaire.

You must remain in the area you have reserved ONLY, there will be no access to other areas of the racecourse.

You must remain at your table or seat at all times, unless ordering food or drink, using the bathrooms, smoking or placing a bet.

You must not attend if you are feeling unwell

You must carry a mask and wear it when indoors (unless eating or drinking)

You must ensure social distancing (1.5m) is always practiced

You must use safe hygiene practices – hand sanitiser is provided in all common areas

You are encouraged to download and enable the Australian Government’s COVIDSafe App

PRE-BOOKINGS AND REGISTRATIONS

Members, Member Guests, Partners, and all Racegoers will need to pre-book into one of the products to attend racing at The Valley. Racegoers that have not pre-booked will not be permitted to
enter the race course.

You will need to provide the names and mobile number of all in your party at time of booking.

Who is permitted to book an on-course package?

Members, Member Guests, Partners, and all Racegoers will be able to pre-book into one of the packages to attend racing at The Valley. Racegoers that have not pre-booked will not be able to access the course.

MVRC Members’ will be given priority to register or book for a package of their choice (capacity dependent).

Can I buy a daily guest pass for a non-member?
Members’ are permitted to buy Daily Guest Passes for non-members.
Can I book for other MVRC Members?
Yes, you can. If you book as one group, we will endeavour to sit you all together on the same table.
Can I share a table with other members?
If you would like to sit with others please organise with your fellow members and book your package together.
If we book with others can we pay individually?
No, all bookings must be paid in full.
Do I have to pre-book to come on course?
Yes, you do. Untill you have pre-booked a package or seated general admission, you will not be permitted to enter the racecourse.
What do I need to do for contact tracing purposes?

At the time of our booking, you will need to provide the names and mobile number of all in your party at time of booking. All patrons, staff and contractors are also required to “sign in” via the QR code using a smart phone at each entry point of the racecourse. These measures will assist contact tracers should there be a requirement to act. All contract tracing data will be deleted after 28 days.

Can I move around the racecourse to catch up with friends or to go to see my horse?

Unfortunately, as per Government guidelines, there are only four permissible reasons for you to leave your seating during a race meeting:

  • Purchasing food and beverages
  • Accessing amenities
  • Placing a bet
  • To exit the venue (using same point as entry)
I haven’t renewed my 2021 MVRC Membership yet. Does this matter?
Member’s will be able to use their 2019/20 Membership cards on Friday 15 January to access the course but will not be valid after this date.  Member’s that have yet to renew, will not be entitled to Race for Award Points. Membership can be renewed online at www.thevalley.com.au or phoning Customer Service on 1300 843 825.
Can I bring in my own food?
 Unfortunately, we can’t permit members to bring their own food on course at this point in time.
Are there Betting facilities open and available on course?

Yes, there will be a limited number of TAB facilities on course, as well as a small selection of bookmakers.

My table doesn’t have a view of the course. Where can I watch the races from?
All those guests who book a table without track views will be allocated a grandstand seat so they can watch the races.
Is The Valley COVID Safe?
Yes. We are following all Government and Racing Industry protocols. You will be required to supply all your contact tracing information and those of your guests to gain entry to the racecourse.

What is the Dress Code?
The relaxed Summer dress code will be required for the Members’ Reserve areas.
Is there a time limit on how long I can stay on course?
No there is not. You’ll be able to stay on course until the venue closes.
